The Bible has far outsold every other book with a staggering 3.9 billion copies sold over the past fifty years! But sadly, there are too many unopened Bibles sitting on shelves, collecting dust. We can’t hear God speaking to us if we don’t take the time to read what He is saying. The Bible is meant to be “bread for daily use,” and not “cake for special occasions”! We need to read it everyday, meditate on what God is saying to us, and truly listen as the Holy Spirit guides. If we are struggling with fear, anxiety, or doubt, God’s Word will give the faith we need to conquer the challenges in day to day living. Without God’s guidance, we will stumble and fail miserably. The Bible says in Romans 10:17, “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the Word of Christ.” The Bible is a roadmap on this journey of life to tell us where we need to go and what dangers may lie ahead. It gives us wisdom to know right from wrong and to discern truth from the devil’s lies. John 17:17 says, “Sanctify then in the truth, your word is truth.” Reading Scripture gives you strength when you are weak and is a powerful tool when confronted with temptation. Even Jesus used the Word of God to defeat Satan’s temptations. But if you just keep a Bible on the shelf, it’s not going to help you. There’s a reason God wants us to keep His Word in our hearts as He instructed in Proverbs 7:3, “. . . write them on the tablets of thine heart.” There is nothing more encouraging, uplifting, or strengthening than the inspired, infallible Word of God.
Psalm 119:11- I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.
John 6:35- Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.
Matthew 28:18- Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
19- Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20- and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Psalm 1
1- Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers,
2- but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night.
3- That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers.
4- Not so the wicked!
They are like chaff
that the wind blows away.
5- Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
6- For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.
